Muscat: Oman Sail is all set to host sailing competitions for qualifying to the Olympic Games 2021 in Tokyo, under the name ‘Al Mussanah Open Sail Championship’ from April 1 to 4 April.
The Olympic qualifiers will be organised for the first time in the Sultanate with the participation of the national sailing team with the purpose to qualify for the Olympic Games scheduled in Japan.
Following the postponement of the qualifiers several times, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the International Sailing Federation has chosen the Sultanate to host the event pursuant to the international standards the Sultanate enjoys in terms of regulating the event besides the expertise Oman Sail acquired in hosting the GCC and international marine events during the past years.
The event would see the participation of 100 sailors from 16 Asian and African countries.
