Oman presents dossier for hosting World Indoor Hockey Cup 2023

MUSCAT: Oman Hockey Association yesterday held a press conference with the Oman Olympic Committee on the Sultanate’s dossier for hosting the World Indoor Hockey Cup 2023, which will be organised for the first time.

The press conference started with a video presentation on the Sultanate’s preparations for hosting this international championship , following which Talib bin Khamis Al Wahaibi, Chairman of Oman Hockey Association, gave a speech, highlighting the Sultanate’s dossier for hosting the event, organizing the event since the announcement on initiation of the championship during a meeting of the International Hockey Federation and the steps taken for preparation of the dossier in partnership with Omran Group and Oman Sail.

Talib Al Wahaibi announced that the Sultanate’s application for hosting the event, scheduled to be organised at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, has been sent. He said that a new modern playground for the event would also be established following the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The team for submission of the Sultanate’s dossier is chaired by Rashad bin Ahmed Al Hinai, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The country to host the championship would be announced on 21 May, following which planning for a national team for the event would take place.—ONA
