'Invest Easy' portal gains popularity in Oman

Muscat: Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that 3,239 applications for registration have been submitted electronically through ‘Invest Easy’ portal from April 2015 to January 2016.
The ministry said that 9 applications were submitted in April, while 26 applications were submitted in May. The statistics showed that 92 applications were submitted in June, 116 applications in July, 300 applications in August, 393 applications in September and 562 applications in August.
As many as 646 applications were submitted in November, while 718 applications were submitted in December. Finally, 377 registration applications were submitted in January this year.
Applications submitted through the service provider offices reached 20,789 from April 2015 till January 2016. The statistics showed that 1,596 applications were submitted in April, 2175 applications in May, 2038 applications in June and 1387 applications in July.
Altogether, 2,664 applications were submitted in August, while 2,247 applications were submitted in September. The applications recorded in October reached 2270 transactions; while 2488 applications were submitted in November 2,894 applications were submitted in December; while 1,030 applications were submitted in January 2016.
It is worth mentioning that the entrepreneurs’ demand on the self service through ‘Invest Easy’ portal reached 5 per cent during the first months of launching this service in April 2015. This demand increased gradually till the end of December 2015.
The self-service transactions recorded 25 per cent at 2,862 transactions in total. In the first two weeks at the beginning of 2016, this rate increased by 36 per cent because the entrepreneur community recognised the importance of self-service.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has urged all investors, businessmen and owners of small and medium enterprises to use the electronic services by visiting the website of ‘Invest Easy’ portal www.investeasy.gov.om. It explained that approaching such services will help in the fast completion of such transactions easily.
