People urged to donate blood, platelets in Oman

Muscat: The Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) has appealed to donors to continue to donate blood and platelets due to the low levels of stocks in blood banks.

The DBBS said in a statement that it would like to point out that stock levels at blood banks are expected to decrease as a result of the recent drop in the number of donors. To ensure sustainability and availability of safe blood, the DBBS requests everyone to continue to generously volunteer to donate blood as well as platelets.

The DBBS also informed that there is a frequent shortage of Rh negative blood group.
