Muscat: After the city of Sultan Haitham, His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning has revealed that there are plans for four more wilayats in the Sultanate of Oman to have model cities.

His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, gave a visual presentation on Sultan Haitham City during the media dialogue organised by the Ministry today, Tuesday.

His Excellency pointed out during the presentation that the ultimate goal of establishing the city is to be a sustainable city for all, in which all citizens can have a home and not be confined to a specific class or group of society, so that the concept of well-being is achieved for all segments of society.

Al-Shuaili added that the city of Sultan Haitham will not be the only future sustainable city, but that there are several other cities that the government is seeking to implement. This includes the city of Bausher, the city of Manah, the city of Sohar and the city of Salalah.

Al-Shuaili also indicated that the city of Sultan Haitham targets those who are eligible within the system of granting government residential lands, and the “Replace Your Land” system for citizens who were previously granted lands.

H.E confirmed also that the city allows investment and real estate development and allows foreign ownership, explaining that 5% of the city will be provided for the housing assistance system for citizens.

His Excellency stressed that the city is characterised by an easy transportation system within it, and includes railways, bicycles, buses and cars, as well as various walking paths, where solutions will be available to address traffic congestion problems.
