Muscat: With the aim of localising industrial operations within Oman, Karwa Motors plans to expand opportunities available to the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in manufacturing fields and services related to the automotive industry in the country.
The total value of local purchases by Karwa Motors has exceeded OMR 2.5 million since the start of its commercial operations, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing local supply chains and creating a competitive business environment that enables Omani companies to integrate into manufacturing industries.
In 2024 alone, Karwa Motors awarded business opportunities worth over OMR1.1 million to 93 small and medium-sized local enterprises.
This is part of the company’s strategy to increase reliance on local suppliers, reduce dependency on imports, and ensure the continuous logistical flow of materials and services related to the automotive industry in Oman.
Dr. Ibrahim bin Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Karwa Motors, emphasised the importance of investing in local suppliers and its impact on enhancing industrial sustainability in Oman.
He noted that the company has focused on supporting local businesses by awarding contracts and job opportunities to these entities since its inception.
He stated that collaboration with local entities contributes to the development of Oman's industrial sector and offers several benefits.
These include reducing import costs by sourcing materials and services from local suppliers, improving supply speed, reducing operational risks associated with global supply chain delays, and ensuring faster availability of spare parts and services.
This enhances production continuity, improves service quality, and builds long-term relationships with local suppliers to boost operational efficiency and achieve sustainability.
Regarding future plans, Dr. Al Balushi mentioned that Karwa Motors aims to increase the volume of local purchases in the coming years, given the expansion of its business scope and the rising number of commercial contracts it executes.
Additionally, Karwa Motors will launch training programmes for local suppliers to enhance their competitiveness and enable them to meet quality and global standards. This will open new horizons for them in both local and regional markets.
