Workshops for people with disabilities inaugurated in Nizwa

Nizwa— The Ministry of Social Development today inaugurated the Protected Productive Workshops at Al-Wafa Center for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities in the Wilayat of Nizwa, under the patronage of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development.

The opening of these workshops aligns with the ministry’s efforts to empower and professionally rehabilitate people with disabilities through training and employment programs targeting 50 beneficiaries with mild to moderate disabilities, aged 18 to 45. The initiative aims to enhance their integration into the labour market, promote economic empowerment, and raise societal awareness of their capabilities.

The project includes a building constructed over an area of 600 square meters, equipped with necessary machinery and tools, supported by several companies: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Occidental Oman, Daleel Petroleum, OQ Exploration and Production, BP, and CC Energy Development.

The facility houses workshops for paper recycling, food processing, and oil distillation, tailored to the beneficiaries' skills and abilities.
