Muscat: The Exhibitions, Conferences and Events Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), chaired by Salim Omar Al Hashmi, Head of the Committee, discussed enablers to strengthen the exhibitions and conferences sector and the challenges facing event-organising companies.
The committee emphasised the importance of enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading regional destination in the exhibitions and conferences sector, given its direct impact on stimulating economic and tourism activity, as well as opening new horizons for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The meeting also stressed the importance of overcoming challenges faced by organisers and participants, and of strengthening partnerships with both the public and private sectors to ensure the sustainability of this vital sector. This, in turn, would contribute to attracting investments, transferring expertise and expanding business networks locally and internationally.
The committee also discussed ways to enhance the role of the exhibitions and conferences sector in social investment by contributing to charitable work and encouraging institutions to participate in this field, thereby promoting a culture of philanthropy and social responsibility among the private sector
