SPE International Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition begins in Muscat

Muscat: SPE International Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition (IHFTC 2025) kicked off on Tuesday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

The event is organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

The opening session of the 3-day event was held under the auspices of Mohsin bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

IHFTC 2025 brings together leading experts, researchers, and executives from across the global energy sector, along with senior officials and industry leaders from Oman.

Held under the theme“Fracturing for a Resilient Energy Future – Innovation, Sustainability, and Global Collaboration”, the conference highlights the latest advances in hydraulic fracturing technologies and practices. Its sessions delve into how these innovations are driving greater efficiency, lowering costs and carbon emissions, and strengthening the security of affordable, sustainable energy supplies worldwide.

In its fourth edition in the Middle East, IHFTC underscores Oman’s growing role as a hub for energy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and global collaboration.

An accompanying exhibition is held with over20 international and regional organisations is also showcasing the latest innovations and equipment in hydraulic fracturing.

PDO is undertaking an active role in the technical programme, with its experts delivering specialised sessions that demonstrate the company’s leadership in deploying advanced hydraulic fracturing solutions, enhancing recovery efficiency, and improving operational performance. These contributions also reflect PDO’s continued efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainability, in line with Oman’s ambition to build a more resilient and low-carbon energy future.
