Muscat: Today, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia formally adopted the Certificate of Origin between the two countries, an action designed to facilitate the flow of goods and enhance industrial and commercial integration.
The adoption was the main outcome of a bilateral meeting chaired by officials from the Omani Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The discussions centered on the second phase of industrial integration, which includes several key initiatives:
• Granting Omani and Saudi companies equal treatment in government tenders and procurement.
• Streamlining procedures for registering industrial products.
• Stimulating joint industrial investments and enhancing integration in commercial value chains.
Officials confirmed that the mutual recognition of the Certificate of Origin creates a more flexible and streamlined environment for bilateral trade. The meeting also witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between private sector companies from both nations.
Recent economic data confirms the strong partnership, showing that overall trade exchange between Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia increased by 20 percent by the end of July 2025.
