Royal Decrees set up Economic Zones near UAE and KSA borders to drive diversification

Muscat: The issuance of two royal decrees establishing economic zones in Al Dhahirah Governorate and the Special Economic Development Zone in Al Rawdah reflects the national direction toward economic diversification and the strategic utilization of the geographic and economic advantages of Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi governorates, stated the Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.

H.E. Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, added that special economic zones and free zones contribute to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040, and that the newly established zones will support promising economic sectors and enhance the investment environment.

Special Economic Zone in Al Buraimi Governorate

- Located on the border with the United Arab Emirates

- Area: 11 million square meters

- Target sectors: logistics services, mining industries, food industries, clean energy

- Objective: contribute to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040

Special Economic Zone in Al Dhahirah Governorate

- Located in the Wilayat of Ibri near the border with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

- Area: 20 million square meters

- Target sectors: logistics services, mining industries, food industries, clean energy

- Objective: strengthen economic integration with neighboring countries and support national economic diversification
