Mutrah cable car showcases Oman’s heritage through three landmark stations

Muscat: The Mutrah Cable Car project, one of Muscat’s most anticipated tourism developments, is set to redefine the visitor experience by seamlessly blending Omani identity with modern leisure offerings. 

Spanning three kilometres, the project features three distinct stations, each designed to capture the spirit of Mutrah’s heritage while enhancing its appeal as a world-class tourist destination.

Mutrah Port Station, located close to the historic harbour, will serve as the main gateway for visitors, including thousands of tourists arriving aboard cruise ships. With its coastal setting and proximity to the Mutrah Souq and Corniche, the station is expected to become a starting point for cultural exploration and a hub of visitor activity.

At the heart of the project is the Al Raya Peak Station, the largest of the three. 

Positioned atop a scenic elevation, it will offer panoramic views of Mutrah’s mountains and waterfront. The station is envisioned as a vibrant leisure zone, featuring entertainment facilities, international restaurants, and an open-air theatre designed to host performances and seasonal events. 

Officials say the station will become a “signature attraction” offering both recreation and stunning natural vistas.

The journey concludes at the picturesque Rose Quarter Station, overlooking the serene blue waters of the Gulf of Oman. 

This station blends nature with modern design, including a dancing fountain and a variety of multi-use commercial spaces, making it ideal for family visits and waterfront gatherings.

Together, the three stations form a cohesive destination that highlights Oman’s cultural heritage while supporting its tourism and investment ambitions. Once completed, the Mutrah Cable Car project is expected to draw residents and international travellers alike, offering a new way to experience one of Muscat’s most historic districts.
