
Muscat--- A three-day event titled “Muscat International Ophthalmology Conference (MIOC)” kicked off in Muscat today under the auspices of Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.
Organised by the Medical City for Military and Security Services, the conference focuses on joint areas of research, medicine and surgery related to ophthalmology.
At the opening of the conference, the minister gave a speech in which he outlined the objectives of the conference and its main themes. The speech was followed by a video presentation introducing the conference.
Then, the heads of international associations and institutes taking part in the conference gave speeches in which they expressed their gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting the conference, noting that the event provides a platform for enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise and helping countries keep pace with the latest global developments in the field of ophthalmology.
The ceremony saw a live broadcast of a sophisticated surgical operation from Krasnov Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases, Russia.
The ceremony concluded with the opening of an exhibition featuring medical and industrial products related to ophthalmology, in addition to an advanced surgical laboratory showcasing the latest global equipment and technologies.
The conference brings together an elite group of consultants and lecturers from Oman and abroad, in addition to representatives of six associations from GCC states and six international associations.
The event includes specialized scientific sessions, lectures and workshops.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Medical City for Military and Security Services, dignitaries, commanders, undersecretaries, ambassadors, senior officers and representatives of Omani government health establishments.
