
Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs on Monday celebrated the launch of the “Endowment Foundation for the Museum of the Prophet’s Biography” and unveil its logo.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, dignitaries, officials and representatives of parties interested in cultural, religious and media affairs.
The ceremony included a presentation and a dialogue session outlining the project.
The establishment of the foundation forms part of the Ministry’s efforts towards the realisation of the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
The foundation seeks to establish and operate an integrated cultural museum that presents the noble biography of Prophet Mohammed in a comprehensive manner. It will showcase the Prophet’s lifestyle, values and morals that spearheaded the Islamic civilization.
The foundation also aims to develop partnerships with other parties in the Sultanate of Oman and abroad. This includes a vision for investing endowment funds in a manner that preserves their assets and ensures their sustainability to serve the foundation’s objectives.
The museum will be located in the Wilayat of Samail, in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, due to the historical significance of the Wilayat that took the lead in the propagation of Islam in Oman.
Al Maamari pointed out that the museum’s project will be carried out in 36 months.
The Minister announced the establishment of the Endowment Foundation for the Museum of the Prophet’s Biography. The foundation will be based in the Governorate of Muscat, with an initial capital of OMR1 million.
