Muscat--- The Ministry of Social Development today marked World Autism Awareness Day 2026, which took the theme "Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value".
The event was held under the auspices of Dr. Abdullah bin Hamoud Al Harthi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Persons with Disabilities’ Affairs.
The programme included workshops and interactive activities aimed to empower children with autism spectrum disorder, by engaging them in public events and highlighting their talents.
The event sought to promote autistic children’s integration in society by spreading public awareness about proper ways to deal with them. It also underlined the need to offer practical guidance to parents and specialists on how to support autistic children. As part of the activities, experts and specialists presented briefings about autism spectrum disorder.
The event was attended by parents of autistic persons enrolled in specialized centres and a number of school students.
