
Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced the arrest of five Asian nationals in two separate anti-narcotics operations carried out in North and South Al Batinah governorates.
In the first instance, the Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances under the Police Command of North Al Batinah apprehended one Asian national in Sohar for being in possession of a large quantity of crystal meth intended for trafficking.
Authorities stated that the suspect was found with a significant amount of crystal meth, along with materials and items believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities. Legal proceedings are currently being completed against the individual.
In a separate operation, the Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances at the Police Command of South Al Batinah arrested four Asian nationals in Al Musannah for being in possession of quantities of cannabis, morphine, crystal meth, and psychotropic tablets.
Police confirmed that the suspects intended to traffic and use the seized narcotics. Authorities also confiscated packaging materials, weighing equipment, mobile phones, and other items related to the illicit operation.
The Royal Oman Police confirmed that legal action is being finalised against all suspects as part of the Sultanate’s ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and reinforce public safety.
