Sri Lanka prison riot leaves at least 25 dead and over hundred injured

At least 25 people have been killed and more than 100 others injured following a brutal overnight prison riot north of Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo. The violent clashes erupted between inmates belonging to two rival drug gangs at a correctional facility in Negombo.

Police and hospital sources confirmed that the wounded were rushed to the local Negombo hospital as authorities fought to bring the situation back under control during the early hours of Monday.
