
Salalah: A forum titled “Digital divide between generations and technical transformations in the age of artificial intelligence (AI)” began in the Wilayat of Salalah today.
The two-day forum is organized by the Ministry of Social Development, in cooperation with the Executive Office of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Salim bin Musallam Qatan, Deputy Chairman of the State Council.
The forum seeks to keep pace with rapid global technical transformations and highlight the digital divide between generations in backdrops of growing developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
The opening programme included three working sessions, a documentary titled "Digital Citizenship" and a presentation on indicators for measuring the digital divide and monitoring digital transformation in GCC states.
The second day of the forum will include workshops on digital literacy for families, digital protection for children and youth, the responsible use of AI applications and technical empowerment of the elderly.
The forum aims to consolidate dialogue, communication and the exchange of knowledge among different age groups, with the prime objective of achieving integration, benefiting from accumulated experiences and innovative ideas, exploring opportunities and addressing challenges posed to societies and work environments by the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and artificial intelligence.
