Oman, Jordan sign MoU to enhance joint cooperation

Salalah: The Ministry of Social Development and the Kingdom of Jordan’s Ministry of Social Development on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for enhancing joint cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of social development.

The signing of the MoU took place on the sidelines of the 4th session of an initiative on enhancing independent living for persons with disabilities. The session is currently being held in the city of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and Wafaa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social Development in the Kingdom of Jordan.

The MoU provides for the formation of a joint technical committee comprising specialists from both ministries. The areas of cooperation cover the rehabilitation and social care for persons with disabilities, the exchange of legislation and successful practices in the employment of persons with disabilities and sharing expertise on the transition from institutional care to family-based care.

The MoU also deals with the exchange of expertise and technical advice on developing handicrafts and handmade products and cooperation in organizing exhibitions to showcase the products of outstanding families.

In addition, the MoU outlines areas of cooperation on care for the elderly and the management of associations, volunteering initiatives, corporate social responsibility activities and cash assistance programmes.
