Bowling championship for people with disabilities organised in North Al Batinah

Sohar: The Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in North Al Batinah Governorate on Monday organised the first bowling championship for people with disabilities.

The event, held in the Wilayat of Sohar, saw the support of Nama Company and the participation of a number of institutions, centres and schools serving people with disabilities from the governorate's wilayats.

The championship brought together 70 people with disabilities (aged 10 years and beyond) who represent Al Wafaa Centres in the wilayats of A’Suwaiq, Al Khabourah, Sohar, Liwa and Shinas, in addition to the Association for Children with Disabilities in Saham, the Autism Centre in Sohar and schools affiliated to the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah.

The players were put in three age groups: 10 to 15 years, 16 to 21 years and players aged 22 years and beyond.

First place in the championship was won by players from Al Wafaa Centres for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities in Liwa, while players from the Association for Children with Disabilities in Saham secured second place and players from the Autism Centre in Sohar occupied third place.
