Regional office of Japan's GLOBIS University inaugurated in Oman

Muscat--- The Regional Office of Japan's GLOBIS University for the Middle East was inaugurated today in Muscat, making the Sultanate of Oman the regional hub for its activities in its first presence in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.

The University affirmed that its choice of the Sultanate of Oman as a base for its expansion in the Middle East followed years of close cooperation in leadership development and education, and in appreciation of Oman's focus on developing national talent, diversifying the economy and strengthening international partnerships within the framework of Oman Vision 2040, making Muscat a natural base for its regional expansion.

Sheikh Khalifa affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman is generally moving toward developing the education sector, particularly higher education. He noted that the opening of an office for GLOBIS University in Oman signals the confidence the country has gained globally, whether in terms of stability, business and investment opportunities, or the Omani student and trainee.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he said that the university will provide enrollees with suitable opportunities to obtain higher education, particularly in developing leaders and decision-makers and cultivating creative entrepreneurs.

He noted that the university delivers lectures and seminars on artificial intelligence, digital transformation and strategy development, explaining that all these disciplines serve Oman Vision 2040 and the Omani economy.

The inauguration of the office crowns a path of cooperation that began in June 2024 with the signing of memoranda of understanding between GLOBIS Japan and Europe and the Royal Academy of Management. This was followed by the implementation of a training programme in Japan for 50 participants from the Future Leaders Programme, the university's recognition by the Ministry of Education in 2025, the joining of the first cohort of Omani students to the MBA programme in Japan this year, and the start of an investment dialogue between GLOBIS Capital Partners and Oman Investment Authority in Singapore in August 2025.

The GLOBIS Middle East Office, established in Muscat last June as a commercial representation office and regional headquarters, will deliver corporate education programmes, MBA courses and leadership development, and connect institutions and leaders in Oman and the wider region with the global GLOBIS ecosystem through business education, entrepreneurship, startups and venture capital, creating new opportunities for cooperation, knowledge exchange and investment between Oman, Japan and the region.

The inauguration ceremony featured a visual presentation on the extended Omani-Japanese relations.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, a seminar titled "Entrepreneurship in the Age of AI: The Vision Behind Japan's No. 1 MBA" was held, delivered by Yoshito Hori, Founder and President of GLOBIS. It targeted professionals, students and entrepreneurs, and addressed insights on entrepreneurship, leadership and impact-making in an era of rapid technological change.
