The University of Technology and Applied Sciences - Mussanah is set to launch the “Oman IoT & AI Challenge 2025” on Wednesday, February 12. This event brings together innovators and pioneers in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) across the Sultanate of Oman. The competition emphasizes the university’s commitment to promoting technological innovation, supporting entrepreneurship, and preparing young minds for regional and international competitions.
The semi-final round will take place on Wednesday at the UTAS Mussanah campus, under the patronage of H.E Dr. Juma bin Khalifa Al Busaidi, Member of the State Council. The university students and entrepreneurs will present their innovative projects to a specialized judging panel. The competition will conclude with the grand finale in May 2025 at Barceló Resort in the Wilayat of Mussanah, where the finalist teams will compete for the titles of “Best Graduation Project” and “Best Startup” in AI and IoT. Winners will have the honor of representing Oman at the "Arab IoT & AI Challenge" in the United Arab Emirates.
Participation in this event presents a unique opportunity for contestants to showcase their innovations before academics, experts, and business leaders, paving the way for potential collaborations and future developments. The competition consists of three main tracks. The Graduation Project Presentations, where students showcase innovative solutions in AI and IoT. The Startup Prototype Exhibition, offering entrepreneurs the chance to present their ideas to investors and experts. The Scientific Poster Challenge, highlighting new research ideas that could drive technological advancements.
The challenge aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes innovation and modern technology as fundamental pillars of sustainable development. The competition plays a crucial role in inspiring students and innovators to develop tech-driven solutions addressing national challenges in healthcare, education, economic diversification, and natural resource sustainability.
