
Muscat :Oman Flour Mills has begun receiving the 2026 harvest of Omani wheat from farmers across the Sultanate of Oman for the sixth consecutive year.
The Omani Wheat Receiving and Purchasing Program is one of the most prominent national strategic programs implemented annually by the company, with direct support and integration with the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. This program contributes to empowering farmers, encouraging them to expand wheat cultivation as a strategic crop, and enhancing reliance on local production in food supply chains.
The 2026 harvest season has witnessed increasing participation from farmers in various governorates, with initial indicators reflecting a stable number of participants and a diversity of Omani wheat varieties. Furthermore, expectations point to an increase in the quantities received compared to previous seasons, confirming the program's success and its continued development year after year.
Haitham bin Mohammed Al Fannah, CEO of Oman Flour Mills, stated that the Omani Wheat Program represents one of the most successful national models for enhancing food security and supporting and empowering farmers.
He explained that the national partnership between the Ministry and the company has directly contributed to a qualitative leap in the wheat farming sector in the Sultanate of Oman by developing agricultural practices, increasing production efficiency, and motivating farmers to continue and expand their operations, in addition to strengthening their confidence in a stable and fair domestic market for the crop.
Al Fannah emphasized that Oman Flour Mills plays a pivotal role in completing this system by receiving the harvest and transforming it into national food products, thus enhancing local added value and supporting food security objectives in the Sultanate of Oman.
For his part, Faisal bin Salem Al-Mashani, Director of the CEO's Office at Oman Flour Mills Company, stated that the Omani wheat procurement program is a cornerstone in bolstering farmers' growing confidence.
He noted that the program has contributed to providing a stable and organized marketing channel for farmers, which has positively impacted production quality and increased the quantities received year after year, in addition to raising the level of adherence to approved technical standards for cultivation, harvesting, and supply.
This program comes within the framework of integrated national efforts led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources to develop the wheat farming sector in the Sultanate of Oman. This development is achieved through supporting farmers and providing guidance and modern technologies. Meanwhile, Oman Flour Mills Company continues its role in receiving, processing, and transforming the harvest into national food products that support the local economy, enhance food security, and ensure the sustainability of local agricultural production, converting it into added economic and nutritional value.
